The US 31, Holland to Grand Haven, along with a new route (M-231) West of 120th avenue in Robinson and Crockery Townships in Ottowa County, MI is a $170 Million project facilitated by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT).

This project will make the following improvements:

2. Add one lane in each direction along US 31 and provide interchange modifications from South of Franklin to North of Jackson in Grand Haven.

3. Construct a new, two-lane limited access road way West of 120th Avenue from M-45 North 7.1  miles to the I-96/M-104 Interchange including a new Grand River Crossing.

4. Make improvement to M-104 near I-96 and new ramps at the I-96 and M-231 Interchange; and

5. Make improvements to I-96/112th Avenue Interchange.

This project will require the acquisition of private property.  MDOT has already initiated property appraisals and making offers in some instances.  Because this project serves a public purpose and use, MDOT has the authority to use eminent domain if negotiations with property owners can not be reached.
