I-71/I-75 Crossover Interchanges at KY 536 and KY 338

Information regarding the I-71/I-75 Crossover Interchanges at Mt. Zion Road and Richwood Road Project

The purpose of KY 536 (Mt. Zion Road) Interchange Reconstruction Project is to improve safety and traffic operations within and near the KY 536 interchange with I‐71/I‐75 in Boone County. The project includes not only reconstructing the interchange, but also consideration of access management concepts along adjacent sections of KY 536 to preserve roadway efficiency and safety for future roadway users.

This Interchange Justification Study (IJS) documents a request to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) on behalf of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) to approve reconstruction of the Interstate 71/Interstate 75 (I-71/I-75) interchanges at KY 536 (Mt. Zion Road) and KY 338 (Richwood Road).

The analysis for the IJS includes KY 536 and KY 338, the I-71/I-75 ramp intersections with KY 536 and KY 338, the ramps proper, the ramp junction points, the freeway segments within the interchanges, and the adjacent I-71/I-75 freeway segments from US 42 to KY 14.

Project website and information we have found show funding for ROW will begin in 2016/2017. Construction looks like it will begin in 2018. The project goes between Cincinnati and Lexington.
