US 127 Reconstruction Project

The purpose of this project is to widen US 127 from North of St. Johns to Ithica in Gratiot County.
The Michigan Department of Transportation deferred this project in 2003. No construction funds were approved for this project in the 5 year work plan. An additional $4 million of HPP funds has been made available with the passage of the surface transportation reauthorization bill (SAFETEA LU). However, MDOT was unable to spend any funds during 2006 and had therefore ceased all work on this project until the completion of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) Re-evaluation. EIS re-evaluation is currently underway and should be completed by the end of 2007. At that time, the DOT will look at pursuing this project further.
Property acquisition and construction are currently not funded or scheduled.
