I-69 and I-465 Interchange Project unveiled by InDOT
The InDOT has unveiled plans for a new project that will make the commute of 150,000 easier.
The I-69 and I-465 Interchange Project will widen both interstates to 12 lanes, including express lanes meant to alleviate congestion issues. It will cost an estimated $567 million and last six years.
The funding for the project will come from the Major Moves spending program, which uses proceeds from the lease of the Indiana Toll Road but the half a billion dollar price tag does not include the amount that will be needed for right of way purchases.
It is expected that 25 property owners along I-69 will have to give up part of or their entire property to the state through the use of eminent domain.
The project is scheduled to begin construction in 2012.
