The WI DOT plans on reconstructing two miles of the existing highway between the city of Jefferson and village of Johnson Creek. The new highway will be expanded to two lanes in each direction with a grass median.
A limited number of at-grade intersections will be maintained; other intersections will be closed for safety reasons. Frontage roads are being considered on both sides of the highway for the area just north of Jefferson to accommodate private driveway access.
This project will require the acquisition of private property. Property acquisition is scheduled to begin in late 2008 and construction is scheduled to begin in 2010.
