The Georgia Department of Transportation plans to add HOV Lanes to SR 316 from Breckinridge Blvd to Progress Center Avenue. Because of the addition of these lanes, numerous improvements need to be made along SR 316, including the construction of new HOV intersections/bridges at Herrington Road, Lawrenceville-Suwanee road, Walther Blvd, and Hi-Hope Road. Also, a new bridge will be construction at SR 120, and the SR 316 and Collins Hill Road Interchange will need to be reconstructed.
The improvements to SR 316 and the addition of the HOV lanes will require the acquisition of private property. The State of Georgia has already begun the property acquisition process and anticipates construction to begin after 2010.
