SR 133 is a major North-South Corridor in Georgie and provides a vital connection between Valdosta and Albany. The purpose of this project is to widen and reconstruct SR 133 from Hawthorne Road to SR 35. The project lenght is 4.55 miles and will consist of the addition of a 20 foot raised median, curb, gutter, sidewalk and turn lanes where necessary. The raised median will sever access to various left turn lanes which have historically resulted in serious accidents.
The construction of this widening project will result in the acquisition of private property. Currently, minimal funding is available for property acquisition in 2008, and the majority of funding needed to complete property acquisition will not be available for several years. Construction is neither funded nor scheduled.
