Piney Green Road is a 6.6 mile stretch of road located in Jacksonville, North Carolina. The planned widening project for this road will increase the number of lanes from two to four. The project is broken down into two sections. Section A of the project, which is scheduled for construction in the spring of 2012, is from NC 24 to Halltown Road. Section B of the project, which will run from Halltown Road to US 17, is currently not funded, and no dates have been scheduled for when this part of the project will be completed. Currently the North Carolina Department of Transportation is in the process of acquiring properties necessary to start construction. A sizeable amount of private property is expected to be acquired by NCDOT. It is important for affected property owners to know their rights and to be informed of the eminent domain process in order to ensure they receive fair compensation from the state.
