Biersdorf & Associates Project # 3286.002
Condemning Authority: Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
PennDOT is still $35 million short for the Route 219 Extension Project. The 12-mile extension of Route 219 from Somerset to Meyersdale has secured $350 million from federal funds and $35 million from state funds but is still missing another matching portion.
“We won’t be able to advance any construction until we have that money,” said Vince Greenland, PennDOT District 9 assistant executive for planning.
Preliminary designs and environmental review have been completed for the project and appraisals for the properties to be purchased for right-of-way will be conducted this summer. PennDOT officials are hoping for a 2010 bid and 2011 construction dates.
